Time for a Makeover The owners of this Cape Cod cottage (see inset) came to me with a very precise program - a new center-hall stairway, a larger living room, central air conditioning, and more upstairs closet space.  These internal changes required the footprint of the original house to be enlarged slightly with a new foyer, porch, and an expanded second floor for the stairwell and closets.  The new front porch was not part of the original wish list, but I am a big porch fan and who wants to stand in the rain fumbling with keys?
